How I Met Nicole

So, I guess the next logical post would be, how did I get here? That's a really good question and it's going to take quite a few posts to get to the bottom of it. But, let's start in April of 2004.

I had just ended a rather awkward relationship. Awkward in the sense where I was really attracted to this girl, but I wasn't finding anything substantial in the realtionship to keep me interested. It was odd, I really felt I had everything I wanted in a girl in her. She was beautiful, smart, athletic and humerous. Plus, we had met in the most hollywood kind of way possible. But, it was like there was a void.

I finally found what that void was. We talked about religion and she just couldn't get it. She was from India and where she came from, religion was always forced upon you. You didn't understand it. I was coming from a culture that said religion was bad, it could control you. And, my experience to win over my friends and family to show them I wasn't crazy for converting to Catholicism is a rather long story. But, case in point, she didn't understand loving God as I did.

I love Jesus. With all my heart. And, that void told me that as much as I liked this girl and thought I loved her, I had to end it. Which brings me back to April 2004, standing on the end of my sophmore year in college thinking, "Okay God, what's next?"

I've only ever had a few moments like this in my life. But, I heard God say to me quite clearly, "I am preparing you for a major step in your life. All you have to do is wait."

'Wait? For how long?"

God was silent on this point. So, sighing, I hunkered down in wait to see what the summer would bring...
